Heather Lang

Heather Lang loves to research and write about real women who overcame extraordinary obstacles and never gave up on their dreams. Her recent picture book biography, Fearless Flyer: Ruth Law and Her Flying Machine (Calkins Creek), illustrated by Raúl Colón, earned two starred reviews and won an SCBWI Crystal Kite Award. It was also named a 2017 NSTA Best STEM Book and one of Bank Street’s 2017 Best Children’s Books of the Year. Her other award-winning picture book biographies include, Queen of the Track: Alice Coachman, Olympic High-Jump Champion (Boyds Mills Press), The Original Cowgirl: The Wild Adventures of Lucille Mulhall (Albert Whitman), and Swimming with Sharks: The Daring Discoveries of Eugenie Clark (Albert Whitman). All of Heather’s books have been selected for the Amelia Bloomer List.
