Jan Schwaid

Growing up in Wisconsin, Jan Schwaid (she/her) spent countless hours typing up stories about fiery-eyed horses and raven-haired mermaids on a chunky desktop computer. After moving to Los Angeles and graduating from the University of Southern California’s screenwriting program, she began writing across an array of media. She has written for everything from television and short films to podcasts, picture books, and video games. Recent projects include PJ Library’s award-winning children’s storytelling podcasts Beyond the Bookcase and Have I Got a Story for You! She’s also the writer of Nosh: Bite-Size Adventures, an educational show for young foodies, which was selected for the Bentonville Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival, and Kids First Film and Video Festival. She currently teaches screenwriting at the Los Angeles branch of the New York Film Academy. Jan resides in sunny Burbank, California with her husband, young daughter, and rescue pup. She still spends hours typing up stories, but at least she has a sleeker computer now. You can follow Jan on Instagram @jan_schwaid_writing. She is represented by Eve Adler.
