Shelley Ann Jackson

Shelley Ann Jackson is an author/illustrator whose first children’s book, Little Lions, Bull Baiters & Hunting Hounds, was honoured with a non-fiction research grant from SCBWI, a Cybils nominationand ForeWord magazine’s Gold Medal for Juvenile Non-Fiction. Her other books have also been recognised with honours such as Bank Street College of Education’s Best Children’s Books of the Year. Shelley has worked with numerous clients, including Animal Planet, Boyds Mills Press, Compassion International, HarperCollins, the New York Times, Penguin Putnam Inc., and Tundra Books.


An American ex-pat, Shelley currently leads the Children’s Book Illustration master’s program at the Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England. She also serves as an advisory board member for Pathways Into Children’s Publishing, which trains diverse aspiring illustrators in the field.


Shelley’s free time is spent with her illustrator/author and collaborator husband, Jeff Crosby, their creative teenage daughter, two dogs and one pony.
